Virginia Taylor Co.

I'm Virginia.

I'm a mac and cheese enthusiast, big sweater aficionado, chai tea latte-drinking gal raised in the river city of Richmond, Virginia but now happily living amongst the Appalachian Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.

I love making art, exploring new cities, and playing my guitar late into the night. I believe in the power of the perfect Eggs Benedict, listen to too much City and Colour, and have a full-fledged thrifting addiction.

I am passionate about photography, perhaps because I am passionate about stories, about people, about things in life that are truly beautiful but often overlooked. With my photography, I hope to capture the world around me in a raw but insightful way--to point out the artistry in the everyday.

I would be thrilled to work together to capture your moments. For a more specific list of the options available, please check out the "Services" page on my website, or please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.

How long have you been doing photography?

I have been doing photography in many different forms since I was a little girl, although I only just recently began to take it to a more professional level. I received my first DSLR camera in the fall of 2015 and it hasn't left my side ever since! I love trying out new and different techniques and watching how my photography as changed and grown since I've begun working with a more professional camera, and I cannot wait to continue that adventure. Most recently I have dabbled in film and darkroom photography, and have loved learning more about the history and development of such an incredible medium!

What kind of camera do you use?

I shoot digitally on a Canon Rebel T500, most often with a Canon 200mm 1.2 lens. I am potentially hoping to upgrade my camera body soon, though I've been successfully brainwashed to shoot only on Canon!

For film I shoot on a Canon AE-1 with a fixed 50 mm lens.

How do you edit your photos?

I primarily edit my photos in Adobe Lightroom CC (2015) though will do occasional touchups in Photoshop. When editing on my phone, my favorite editing apps are VSCO Cam and Snapseed, though I sometimes edit via Lightroom mobile.

What services do you offer beyond photography?

I have experience doing social media management, marking, and have dabbled in web design, and would be happy to help you with any of these services! To read more in depth about what I offer, please check out the "Services" tab at the top of the page.

Do you travel for shoots?

Yes, yes, and YES! I would love to travel to help you, granted my schedule allows. Please contact me directly for more specific details.

Can you recommend some things to do around Richmond? Around Asheville?

Absolutely! I quite honestly can't believe I've been lucky enough to experience living in two such spectacular cities, and I forever have a special place in my heart for both of them. Both Richmond and Asheville are bustling with incredible music scenes, art scenes, and not to mention AMAZING FOOD! Whether you're looking for outdoor adventures, artsy strolls, or the best places to score good thrifting deals, I would be happy to share some of my favorite spots in my favorite cities.

What is a PASS gallery?

A pass gallery is an excellent way to share photos, and is my preferred way to share final images with you! All images are easily downloadable from the gallery, and it allows you to see your images as a group as well. Photos are also backed up into the cloud and therefore do not run the risk of being lost! The images displayed through PASS also do not get shrunken or pixelated. If you have another preferred way of receiving your photos, please contact me directly.
